Consultant and Director, Corporate

Julian is a solicitor, accredited mediator and non-executive director.

He has a very wide network of food & drink clients and contacts and specialises in mergers and acquisitions, brokering deals for vendors and acquisitive corporate clients or working with management teams as a trusted adviser. He uses his extensive knowledge of the food & drink sector to lead the Rollits Food Group, which advises on corporate finance and legal aspects of M&A in the sector.

With extensive knowledge of the food industry and family businesses, he has held many board positions across a wide range of sectors and excels at advising on strategy. In particular he enjoys working with good people and making a contribution to the success of their business or organisation.

Career

Julian qualified as a solicitor with Dibb, Lupton & Co (now DLA) in Leeds and worked there from 1975. He joined Northern Foods plc in 1979 as Company Solicitor moving up to become Company Secretary in 1984. A series of secondments to Dale Farm Foods and Park Cake Bakeries followed (both Northern Foods companies) before returning to Northern Foods’ headquarters in 1989 as Corporate Development Director.

Julian joined Rollits in 2005 as Food Group Director becoming a Partner in 2010 and then a consultant in 2018.

Julian has been a non-executive director of Macphie of Glenbervie and is currently supporting Shepcote Distributors, together with many other voluntary roles in the arts, sport, charities and commerce.
