Linda is a key member of the firm’s Operations Team which focuses on all operational matters including risk management and also jointly chairs the firm’s Employee Forum. The Employee Forum organises social events including quizzes, Easter bake-offs, raffles, Treasure Hunts as well as environmental initiatives such as improving the firm’s recycling. It also organises fundraising events to raise money for the firm’s Charity of the Year. A Wellbeing Month is held each year with a focus on health, exercise and diet.

As well as managing the onboarding process for new starters, she works closely with the firm’s employee benefits providers and manages the firm’s annual and half year appraisal process.

She coordinates the Lexcel accreditation process which involves an annual assessment undertaken by Centre for Assessment/The Law Society. The process includes scheduling meetings with lawyers and support staff with the Assessor, a review and updating of all company policies and procedures as well as important compliance checks.

A large part of her role involves providing colleagues with support, help, guidance and a listening ear if they need to chat.

Career

Linda previously worked as a PA to the Area Manager at HSBC Bank plc in Hull for over 25 years before joining Rollits in January 2005 as Assistant to the Partnership Secretary. In 2008 she relocated to the York office as the Office Manager responsible for the management of an office including staffing, health and safety, human resources (including recruitment) and management of the front of house team in York.

Linda studied and attained CIPD Level 5 through Hull College of Further Education and started in her current role as Head of HR in March 2017. The role entails the management of the human resources area within Rollits which includes payroll, employee benefits, recruitment, on-boarding of new starters, leavers, well-being and employee engagement.

Expertise

Linda manages the firm’s human resources including payroll, recruitment of support staff, benefits, appraisals, health, wellbeing and the firm’s Human Resources portal. Over the past 2 years, Linda has had particular focus on health and wellbeing, including mental health.

She was the driving force of the firm signing the Time to Change Pledge in October 2019 and continues to strive to ensure that all partners and staff are fully supported with their mental wellbeing. She is one of the firm’s Wellbeing Companions.
