Rollits Partners praised as "Leaders in their Field"
Rollits wins plaudits in leading law directory Chambers
Seven lawyers from Rollits have been named as "leaders in
their field" in the 2012 edition of Chambers - the definitive guide
to law firms in the UK.
Chambers UK Guide was first published in 1989 and lists
solicitors in many specialist areas of law. The directory`s
research of the UK legal profession identifies the leading lawyers
and law firms through independent and objective interviews with
thousands of lawyers and their clients.
Rollits was praised for the depth and variety of services it
offers to clients from corporate/M&A to dispute resolution,
employment to intellectual property and was described as having "a
strong market presence across the North and the East Midlands
Those singled out for praise included Partner, John Lane, who
heads the firm`s private Capital Department. John received a top
ranking for his work in the private client arena within North East
and Yorkshire, and the firm was highlighted for its commercial
awareness, and described as "a superb team".
Partner Keith Benton received two recommendations for his
work in Intellectual Property and Information Technology and was
praised "… because he is up to date, resourceful, commercially
minded and advises us in a cost-effective manner." Chambers states
"Rollits has a strong IP practice that handles both contentious and
non-contentious work, albeit with an emphasis on the latter. The
firm has offices in Hull and York, which gives it a good reach into
the region, and it also works with clients on a national
George Coyle and Ralph Gilbert were both praised for their
work in dispute resolution with the firm described as having "a
strong market presence across the North and the East Midlands, and
it is celebrated for its record in dispute resolution defence
work". In this area, Chambers states "George Coyle receives
approbation for his "brilliant commercial attitude." His practice
is concerned largely with product liability and breach of warranty
claims, and he is increasingly in demand for regulatory defence
instructions. Ralph Gilbert has `very strong knowledge of
insolvency law and associated matters` and is `fantastic on
technical issues,` according to sources."
Neil Franklin was recommended for his work in the
agricultural sector and described as being "steeped in rural and
agricultural deal making." Chambers said: "This firm offers a
commercially driven approach and boasts a long history of acting
for farming businesses. Acting from offices in Hull and York, the
team advises on land sales, purchases and leases, securities and
Sheridan Ball, a specialist in family law, was singled out as
a "Notable Practitioner" and recognised for pioneering mediation
within Rollits and for her "spot-on preparation."
Partner Douglas Oliver also received praise. Chambers said:
"Douglas Oliver heads the social housing group. He is described as
"excellent, responsive, thorough and not afraid to tell you when
you`ve made a mistake."
Elsewhere, the firm was recommended for its Corporate/
M&A work in Yorkshire, as well as receiving praise for both
Employment and Real Estate work undertaken.
