Rollits choose winner of Rollits Art Award 2012

We are pleased to announce that Phil Entwistle has beenawarded the inaugural "Rollits Art Award 2012" at the School of Artand Design, Hull College, for his painting `DeltaicSandstone`.

Phil is on a Professional Practice Programme which offers arange of courses for mature students in the 19+ age category. Hispaintings explore the physical processes of the Earth`s surface, inparticular the geology of northern England. This painting ofDeltaic Sandstone is an example from the Yorkshire Coast and is thelatest in an increasingly ambitious series of works.

The standard of work at the College was of such a highstandard that the work of four other students, Viktor Staskevicius,Elizabeth Hayes, Karolina Badas and Fiona Caley, were also selectedas `Highly Commended`.

The School of Art and Design is located at Park Street andit`s excellent onsite facilities include multimedia graphic designsuites, purpose built workshops dedicated to 3D/spatial design,jewellery design and ceramics. Specialist Art and Design facilitiesalso include the industry standard photographic studio withassociated digital editing suites, fine art studios, textile workrooms with state of the art equipment including computerised dobbylooms and fashion and clothing studios/workshops.

This centre is complemented by the Hull School of Art andDesign building at the Queen`s Gardens site.

"We have been working with The School of Art and Design,Hull College on a variety of projects for some time now and we weredelighted to sponsor this award to highlight the achievements ofthe art students at Park Street. We viewed the work of all of thestudents - everything from ceramics to textiles - at their end ofyear show and the standard of work impressed us so much that wefound it very difficult to choose the winner.

"After hours of deliberation, we finally chose Phil`spainting as our eventual winner, and recommended four furtherpieces which we nominated as `Highly Commended`.
