Rollits charity golf day raises funds for local charities
Yorkshire businesses helped to raise over £3,000 for charity at
a golf day organised by Rollits at Brough Golf Club on Thursday 7 July
Businesses including MKM, Plaxton, The One Point and PPH
Commercial, came together to raise funds for two local
Twenty five teams took part in the charity golf event at Brough
Golf Club, which raised funds for the local branch of the Muscular
Dystrophy UK, who provide free care and support for babies,
children and adults affected by muscle disease, fund world-class
research to find treatments and cures, provide grants towards
equipment and campaign to raise awareness and bring about change,
and Dove House Hospice in Hull, which offers palliative care to
adults with life limiting illnesses to improve the quality of life
of their patients by offering specialist care which is holistic and
The winners of this year's competition, with a winning score of
119 was the Strata Boys comprising Graham Fisher, Ian Jones, Wayne
Holgate and Phil Tomlinson.
Speaking after the event, Richard Field, senior partner at
Rollits, said: "The day always provides an excellent opportunity
for some friendly competition between Yorkshire's business people
while also raising funds for two extremely worthy causes. We're
pleased to be able to support the two charities by presenting them
with the proceeds of our golf day.
He added: "This year's tournament was once again a great
success. We had fantastic weather and excellent support from
businesses around the region. Thank you to all those who entered
teams, donated prizes and sponsored holes, without whom this day
would not be possible."
>From its inception in 1988, the event continues to be
popular with businesses throughout the region and has helped to
raise in excess of £120,000 over the years.
