Macmillan Race Day at York
Move over Mickey - there's a new mouse in town!
On Saturday, 15 June a team of volunteers from Rollits gave up their time to help with fundraising at the Macmillan Race Day at York Racecourse raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The team were at the racecourse all day and undertook a variety of task from selling raffle tickets to shaking collection buckets. One team member, Chris Drinkall, even volunteered to dress up as the charity's mascot and did a superb job as Miles the Mouse!
This fabulous day at the racecourse was a huge success and this year the total raised in one day exceeded £350,000.
The Macmillan Race Day has been running for over 43 years and is the charity's single biggest fundraising event of the year, raising a total of £5.5 million for people affected by cancer.
Macmillan was founded in 1911 by Douglas Macmillan and is a registered charity. They provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care for all those diagnosed with the disease.
Partner John Lane said "We were delighted to be given the opportunity to help Macmillan with their fundraising activities at the Macmillan Race Day in York this year. They looked after us very well on the day and we were proud to be involved and contribute to their record-breaking day"
