And while there has never been
a better time to invest in the region, with one of the fastest
growing digital sectors outside of London and pioneering growth in
green energy industries, an event as part of the Humber Business
Week 2015 programme will provide an insight into one successful
business that can trace its own roots in Hull.
Speaking at the 'Hull Born and
Bred' event will be Jonathan Leafe, Managing Director of
Strawberry. Now one of the region's leading full service creative
and digital agencies Strawberry was originally founded in Hull in
1993. Strawberry also holds a firm belief in nurturing young talent
and through 'StrawberryToo' launched an agency staffed entirely by
apprentices and graduates.
Jonathan Leafe said: "Back
in 1993, Strawberry opened its doors with a team of two. Fast
forward to over 20 years later and Strawberry has grown to a team
of 35 highly talented individuals serving a varied client portfolio
including local, national and international public and private
"We are also committed to
investing in our team and to source and attract the best talent in
our area, which is why, in 2014, we launched
"StrawberryToo is a
smaller creative and digital agency which is staffed entirely by
local apprentices and graduates with an aim to train, mentor and
develop our creative stars of the future."
Attendees will also hear about
Hull College's Talent Ambassador Scheme which offers employers
opportunities to engage with students and for early identification
of young talent for their own future workforce, including guest
talks and presentations, work experience placements and live
student commissioned projects.
'Run With It', a local
organisation, will also showcase how using the stimulating
environment of the KC Stadium can improve children's attitudes and
motivation towards literacy and numeracy and the importance of
English and maths for young people to compete in today's labour
And as our 175th Anniversary
approaches in 2016, we will outline a brief history of the firm
which started with John Rollit, who founded the practice at No. 2
Bowlally Lane in the heart of Hull's old town in 1841.
The event will take place on 2
June 2015 in Charlottes Restaurant, Hull College, Queens Gardens
from 12.30 to 2.30pm.
