On 13 April 2011, the Supreme Court granted leave to appeal from the Court of Appeal`s decision in R (Prudential plc and another) v Special Commissioner of Income Tax and another [2010] that legal professional privilege does not apply to any professionals other than qualified lawyers.

Prudential, who had until 4 May 2011 to decide whether it will proceed with the appeal, has given notice of its intention to appeal to the Supreme Court against the Court of Appeal decision.
