Sexual Harassment in the Workplace
Join us for a workshop on the employment aspects of sexual harassment in the workplace presented by our specialist Employment team
There appears to have been an increase in sexual harassment claims according to recent tribunal statistics and a survey by the trade union TUC states more than half of the women they surveyed said they had been sexually harassed at work, with reports of sexual harassment at ‘epidemic levels’ in UK Universities.
This type of claim is undoubtedly on the rise, with a number of high profile reports of sexual harassment in the workplace reported in the media.
It is unclear what lies behind the increase but it could well be that following the media coverage over recent months and the backlash that followed more women are now prepared to step forward and report such behaviour.
Employers have obligations to all employees in respect of equality and diversity during the course of their employment and has become evident more needs to be done to ensure that such conduct is appropriately dealt with under policies and procedures embedded in the workplace.
Topics to be covered include:
- What is sexual harassment?
- Who is liable?
- Manager’s responsibilities
- The employer’s reasonable steps defence
- How to defend a tribunal claim.
Who should attend?
This session will be of particular interest to directors, business owners, senior managers and HR professionals.
