Information Commissioner: “Alarm bells must now ring in every boardroom”

The UK’s Information Commissioner has issued a stark warning to all businesses and public organisations that they must take the security of personal information more seriously. In a week that saw the bank account and address details of millions of individuals being lost by HM Revenue and Customs, the Information Commissioner reminded businesses in a self-penned article in The Independent newspaper that they must have data protection safeguards in place that are “technically robust and idiot proof”.

If you would like to discuss what your business’ obligations are in relation to the use and storage of personal information, contact Tom Morrison (01482 323239, tom.morrison@rollits.com) or Ralph Coyle (01904 625790, ralph.coyle@rollits.com).
